Medano River, Great Sand Dunes National Park (Colorado)
I took this while crossing the Medano River, one of the few rivers in the world with "sand surges." The sand in the bed forms mini-dams that break every few moments, sending a small surge of water downstream. I was lucky to be there in early June when the surging was at its peak.
