To read about my travels from 2001 to 2016,
please see: www.DelsJourney.com.
Here's why:
After working for an engineering firm in Portland, Oregon from 1991 to 2001, I quit on my 10-year work anniversary in March 2001 and embarked on an 18-month trip around the U.S., the south Pacific, New Zealand and Australia. During my trip, I bought a thick book on Microsoft FrontPage, taught myself web design, and started posting entries. It was my first travel website and I called it DelsJourney.com.
After finishing my trip, I decided to keep DelsJourney.com posted because it had become such an important part of my life, though my updates became less frequent. From 2006 until 2012, I posted semi-occasional stories about my life in Oregon as well as my numerous trips to Belize and the Middle East, and a quick trip around the world that I took in 2008.
Then in 2013, I described my experience of moving to Qatar, in the Middle East where I lived and worked until 2016. DelsJourney.com eventually grew to over 530 webpages and included more than 2,600 photos. Over the years, it evolved into an eclectic website, where I described not just my travels but various tangential and sometimes totally-irrelevant subjects.
I returned from Qatar to the U.S. in March 2016, then embarked on yet another road trip around America, which I've described on this website, www.ExtremeGeographer.com. But don't worry, I've kept DelsJourney.com posted. So if you want to find out how it all started for me, be sure to check out DelsJourney.
